Growing up in Lucas, I heard about a man who you may see on the back roads outside of town. He has long black hair, wearing navy overalls, a black brimmed hat, and a blue jacket and he carries a knapsack. I have know idea of who or what he is. There is no foreboding omen that comes with a sighting. When you pass him walking the along the roads, he will disappear by the time you turn around to get a better look. I have seen him 3 times. Twice on Hastings-Newville Rd and once on Berry Rd.
The twice on Hastings Newville were just as described above, there then gone. But the one on Berry Rd. was a unique experience.
Friday Nights in Lucas can be, boring. So one night, two friends and I, decided to go raise some cain. Its late evening, sometime between 10pm and midnight, we are out causing havoc, my one friend is driving his pick up and my other friend and I are in the bed of the truck. We had just come off Hanley Rd and were at the bottom of the steep hill near the end of Berry Rd. This end of Berry Rd. at the time had two homes on it and was densely wooded. This evening was a clear, brisk September night. My one friend driving had stopped the truck for undisclosed reasons, when out of the Woods stepped the Knapsack Man. My Friend and I in the the bed of the truck, stopped laughing and stared, startled, at him. He strode to the center of the road and stood there. He stared right through us and as we made eye contact, he disappeared right in front of our eyes. My Friend and I were freaked out and jumped in the cab of the truck and ordered the driver to "get the Hell out of there"! |
